Mission Carlsbad
Mission Carlsbad exists to repair homes and restore lives. The project is organized by Carlsbad churches to provide a local work group to rehabilitate and repair homes. Last year 89 youth and 134 adult volunteers repaired 25 homes in Eddy County. Southeast NM Community Action Corporation is a committed partner in this effort.
Southeast NM Veterans Transportation Network
The Southeast New Mexico Veterans’ Transportation Network provides transportation for local veterans (and spouse or caretaker) to and from their doctors’ appointments/ medical procedures, free of cost to the veteran.
The Southeast New Mexico Veterans’ Transportation Network was started in February 2013. Each year, they transport an average of 1,400 veterans and travel over 187,000 miles. All of the drivers are 100% volunteer. Most of them are veterans themselves or relatives of veterans. The network uses 13 vans. Ten are in Roswell, one in Lovington, one in Carlsbad, and one in Artesia. The network receives no government assistance. SNMCAC is a long term partner in this project, providing vehicles and paying for insurance with CSBG funds.
